Computer Lab Activities for Thursday, May 17th, 2012:
1. Go to the RenLearn site and practice Math Facts in a Flash..
2.Go on Kids Pics and create a card for Father's Day card OR a card for another family member. You must check with me before you print! If you don't check first, you don't get to keep the print (Computer Lab rules). Also, you my only print one page.
3. After you finish making the card and I have let you print, you may either continue to practice with Kids Pics OR you may practice your math on Math Facts in a Flash.

Next year, the Common Core standards will guide the pace and content of our classrooms. The content of the Common Core standards is very similar to the current California Standards. Their presentation and organization is a bit different.To get a head start on what these standards look like, follow the links below.

At the beginning of the year, I distributed a 'fluency packet' created to provide information about your second grader's reading fluency. I hoped to show how families can help students learn to enjoy reading while they improve their reading skills through independent practice. Visit the San Jose Public Library web site for links to reading sites for kids, including (and especially) Tumblebooks, which allows you to "Read or listen to animated, talking picture books in English, Chinese, French, or Spanish. " All you need is a San Jose Public Library card! They also offer live homework help; look for the navigation button that says, "Homework".
