February 6-February 10, 2012
Valentine's Day is coming up!
We
will pass out Valentines on Tuesday, February 14th during the last hour
of class. If students want to share small treats along with the cards, their friends may
enjoy them AFTER SCHOOL, per SJUSD guidelines. We will have our February
birthday party on the afternoon of the 17th. A class list with all the A-3 All-Stars' names will be included in
the homework this week and next week so you can make a Valentine for everybody!.
*President's Day occurs during our Winter break- February 20-24. We are reading the Magic Tree House book Revolutionary War on Wednesday to help us learn more about George Washington and the events surrounding his presidency. We will read Civil War on Sunday to learn more about Abraham Lincoln and his presidency.

BTW: While reading and discussing Wednesday, a student asked who the second president was. The answer is John Adams, and a full list of U.S. Presidents can be found on this Wikipedia link: List of Presidents of the United States.
*The link below will take you to a PDF file with a good review of 2-digit addition and subtraction that families can print out and use as extra practice at home. I also have prepared two packets that take students from basic one digit facts through 2 digit facts with regrouping that some students have already gone through. If you would like one of my review packets for your child, please let me know and I will send one home with them..
We will continue to review and practice regrouping as well as our basic math facts throughout the year, even as we study other math topics.
